Firstly the Royal Garden of Prague Castle is definitely the most significant garden in Prague Castle complex.
The garden founded in 1534 by Ferdinand I, who loved wine, lays next to Prague castle, so there were medieval vineyards. The garden was designed in the Renaissance style, and over time various objects were added such as the breathtaking Queen Anne’s Bathhouse or Ballroom. Garden includes the Baroque statues from Maxmilian Brokoff and J J Bendl as well as the Estate of Dr Eduard Beneš, the Czechoslovakian second president. Other important elements of the garden are the trees, which are exotic and originally didn’t grow in Central Europe. There are maples, chestnuts and other species.
Nowadays, the garden is open to all visitors, but it wasn’t in the past. Finally the garden has been opened by president Václav Havel the instigation of his wife Olga Havlová. As a result enjoy your visit of this peace and calm garden.
